When setting up your Shopify store, ensuring that it is secure for your customers is paramount. One of the essential elements for this is having an SSL (Secure Socket Layer) certificate. However, you might come across the status "SSL Pending" while setting it up. This can delay your store’s launch or impact customer trust. In this blog, we’ll break down what SSL Pending means, its causes, and solutions to fix the issue.

Domain Propagation Time: It can take up to 48 hours for a newly connected domain to propagate across the internet. During this time, your SSL certificate may remain pending until the process completes.

Incorrect Domain Setup: Incorrect DNS settings, such as misconfigured A or CNAME records, can prevent SSL activation. Double-check that your domain is correctly pointed to Shopify’s servers.

Multiple SSL Certificates: If your domain has an active SSL certificate from another provider, it can conflict with Shopify’s certificate. Remove or disable the conflicting certificate to proceed.

Domain Redirects or Subdomains: Redirects or misconfigured subdomains can delay SSL activation. Ensure that your domain is set up properly with no conflicting redirects.

Recent Domain Purchase: If you recently bought a custom domain, it may take some time for Shopify to issue the SSL. Allow some delay while the domain registration finalizes.
